POLICE GET MYSTERY OF PURLOINED PURSE
returning to retrieve her pocketbook which she had left a few minutes before in a booth at the purity restaurant, main street, lewiston, mrs. molly scolnik of 78 howard street found the bag missing, she said last night in filing complaint with lewiston police.
mrs. scolnik said when she went into the restaurant with her husband she placed the purse on the seat on the inside of the booth. as they finished their meal and went outside she remembered the pocketbook and immediately went back for it. it was gone. her inquiries in the restaurant failed to uncover it. mrs. scolnik said several persons left the restaurant after they were outside but she could not remember who they were.
the purse contained $15, police said.
